About us

BitterSuite was created to re-imagine music performances. We believe that music is a multi-sensory experience; we listen, touch, taste, smell and move with it. We produce performances and collaborate with others through The Lab to deliver participation programmes, talks and collaborations that explore our connection with music.

Collaborators include experts in the field of sound and the senses including somatic practitioners, the deaf-blind community, neurologists, psychologists, dancers, composers, music ensembles, perfumers, chefs and more. Our work includes Debussy’s String Quartet in G, Performing Sensory Immersion, The Sensory Score and Tapestries. Previous concert partners include the Royal Opera House, the Arnolfini, Vault Festival, Arcola Theatre, FutureFest and Rich Mix.

Disarming and wonderful.

BitterSuite symphonies allow you to remain powerfully in the moment... This is a concert where you don’t just listen to the music, you taste it, smell it and feel it as well.

The Lab

BitterSuite’s work is rooted in collaboration. Together we create participation programmes, talks and experiments through The Lab. We design participation programmes for diverse groups, lead one-off workshops, collaborate with brands, run R&D programmes and give talks to students and conferences.

Our partners include the Royal Opera House, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Bristol Arnolfini, the Arcola Theatre, Rich Mix London, the Roundhouse, TedX Hackney, Wilderness Festival, Nesta, Sense UK, Heart n Soul, LICA Department of Architecture for Social Innovations, the New York City Ballet, BMI (Broadcast Music Inc), the National Gallery, Old Trumans Brewery, and the Institute of Philosophy at UCL.

Totally wonderful.
